Pilot Project Successes
Dear Pleroo Partners,

I am thrilled to share some news about our pilot project in Papua New Guinea! We’ve just wrapped up phase 1 of our collaboration with Matt and Liz, working on bible translation (Wycliffe Bible Translators) in Papua New Guinea. For those new to our work, Pleroo’s mission is to provide emerging technologies to mission teams in the field that keep them connected, safe, and effective.
Pleroo listened to Matt and Liz’s needs, designed, architected, tested, and then shipped out a bespoke connectivity kit tailored to their specific needs: a cell booster system, portable battery, solar panels for sustainable power, and an unlocked mobile hotspot. We didn’t stop at delivery—we guided Matt and Liz through the setup process remotely, ensuring everything was up and running smoothly in their challenging environment.
What We Accomplished
The Results
The biggest win? Matt and Liz can now make 3G voice calls right from their house! Before this, there was zero cell service at home, forcing them to trek a ½ mile each time they needed to check in with their support teams, coordinate supplies, or handle emergencies. This seemingly simple upgrade is transforming their daily lives and ministry.
On top of that, we’ve seen these additional benefits
1. Improved in-town hotspot:
The portable hotspot now delivers much stronger and more consistent connections when they’re in nearby urban areas, making emails, video calls, and resource downloads a breeze.
2. Easier access at Hello Hill:
This village spot was their old go-to for getting a sliver of cell
signal, but it required constant hassle. With the new equipment, grabbing a connection there is
quicker and more reliable—no more frustration or wasted time.

These outcomes aren’t just technical wins; they’re real-life enablers for Matt and Liz to focus on what matters most: their bible translation work, sharing the Gospel, and building/serving their community without the constant barrier of isolation.
Looking Ahead: Next Steps
We’re not done yet—this is just the beginning of optimizing their setup. Here’s what’s on the horizon:
1. Matt will tweak the antenna positioning at the house to enable even better 3G coverage.
2. Pleroo will explore options for an additional antenna that could ramp up data speeds right at home.
3. Pleroo is designing a Hello Hill-to-village house relay solution to potentially provide in-home 4G for bandwidth beyond simply voice calls.
4. Pleroo will continue to provide a technical support team for any tweaks or troubleshooting.
